Roadmap

The 44th Australian Infantry Battalion Memorial is committing itself to a number of ambitious future projects in order to preserve and advance the legacy of the 44th Battalion and the men who served in it.

Adopt a Soldier Workshop

The 44th Australian Infantry Battalion Memorial will hold set Adopt A Soldier Workshops, where members of the public can uncover the story of a soldier with the assistance of staff in a collaborative environment.

Marching the Banner Throughout WA

The 44th Australian Infantry Battalion Memorial intends to march & run the banner through every shire in Western Australia. A brief remembrance ceremony will be held at each location. This begins on the 24th June 2024.

Community Competitions

Community competitions will be held for designing floral and artistic pieces.

Commemorative Ceremony

The 44th Australian Infantry Battalion Memorial will be holding a commemorative ceremony in November 2024. This will consist of a main ceremony (90 minutes long) and a rotating honour guard from dawn until dusk.

Creating Monuments

The Memorial intends to create a physical monument for the 44th Australian Infantry Battalion in addition to smaller ones around the state.

March of the Soldiers

The Memorial intends to have a march of all the 2,101 soldiers, each one represented by a banner with their photo. This will give an appreciation of the scale of their sacrifice.

Citizen’s Guard

The Memorial is in the process of forming a ceremonial drill group known as the Citizen’s Guard, which will fulfil many remembrance obligations of the memorial.

Documentary

The Memorial intends to make a detailed documentary video series following the story of the battalion throughout the Great war.
